The
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, or better known as Skyrim, is a
revolutionary game with an RPG leveling system that takes
place after the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
The setting is set in the Norse world of Skyrim, where war
wages and inconveniently the dragons have come back for
conquest. The game was released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360,
and PC.
Single player:
The single player of Skyrim takes
place after the events of Oblivion, the Norse world of
Skyrim. Two big nations are currently warring with one
another, the Stormcloak Rebellion, and the Empire. You are
pretty much in the middle of all this, oh, and the dragons.
You are dragon born, found with Stormcloaks and captured by
the Empire which is when you create your character. There
are many races to choose from, each with their own special
abilities. The most common of these races would be the Nord
race, heavily resistant to the harsh cold of Skyrim and her
mountainous regions. The options for your character creation
are very well done, allowing you to go very into detail
during customization. Now you don’t pick a class to play as,
for during the game you spec your way into what you would
like to play as. You can be a tank with Sword and shield, or
a powerful wizard with insane magic skills. Now as far as
storyline the diversity is amazing. There are over 300 hours
of gameplay which includes side quests. This is the biggest
game Bethesda has ever put out and it is well worth a buy!
You can either run through the main story line, or do loads
of side quests to help level you up and acquire some good
gold. You may also just explore the very large world of
Skyrim and stumble upon crypts and dungeons to explore.
World is just huge and very intense. You often find the
creatures of Skyrim fighting with one another or AI
humanoids communicating and interacting with one another,
bringing the feeling of real life to the game. I have yet to
find glitches in the game’s engine, which mean I can infer
that the team put loads of effort into making this game
flawless. The game’s medieval purpose and Norse based
culture allows you to explore one the most underrated Pagan
religions. Another glorious feat in the games single player
is that a dragon can randomly attack you at any point in the
game when you’re off traveling about. You might already in
the midst of battle when out comes a Blood dragon out for
the Dovahkiin! I should also mention that Bethesda invented
their own language called Draconic, which is spoken by the
dragon of Skyrim, and is known also to the Dragon born.
There is simply too much to say about the single player of
Skyrim, you must purchase this amazing game and find out for
yourself! Bethesda granted the single player for this
masterpiece a 10 out of 10 for single player.
Score: 10
Graphics:
The graphics of Skyrim have definitely
improved since previous releases like
Fallout 3, but still
retain some details that must be fixed. However, I do not
blame them for the fact that the map is huge and rendered at
the same time, making it very difficult for intense
graphical content. For what they have done, however, it
looks stunning and feels amazing when playing. One thing
that I noted was beautiful was Skyrim’s sky at night. The
vibrant colors and stars mixed with several moons or planets
looks so beautiful it was simply remarkable. Also, the misty
clouds you can see in the distance in Sykrim’s mountain
ranges look beautiful. There are several things that they
did a great job with, which I really enjoyed viewing. The
character detail is also relatively well done and the armor
was nicely detailed. What I did miss from the Fallout series
was the epic amounts of gore and chopped off limbs. I mean
this is medieval warfare therefor I would tend to think that
the severing of limbs would be much more implemented than in
post-apocalyptic Fallout. The beautiful world of Skyrim
receives 8 out of 10 for graphics; they could’ve focused a
little more.
